Field Trips

Bushy Hill Nature Center

Bushy Hill Nature Center

Students visiting Bushy Hill Nature Center are transported back in time and given the unique opportunity to view the daily living skills of different Native American cultures including fire making, techniques in cooking, stone tool making, food collecting and shelter building. Their wigwam is set up to illustrate the life and technologies in prehistoric Connecticut, as well as the first contact period of seventeenth century New England. Bushy Hill also features a teepee site designed to showcase the plains culture, their nomadic lifestyle and their dependence on bison. This is our annual field trip taken in the fall.

Both the three year and four year old classes traditionally visit Scott’s Apple Orchard in Deep River every September. Apple picking and hiding in the pumpkin patch are a must!
